Robotic Mowers

There has been a lot of progressional changes in the world of robotic lawnmowers over the last few years.

The range has advanced in recent years and now covering options between 400m² to 10000m², split between the 2 ranges we choose from.

They no longer have to be installed with a cabled installation, a boundary laid to enclose its area and help it get from A to B.  It is now possible to have a robotic mower installed with no boundary cables and even, in some instances with a combination of the two types.

The advantage of cabling is that the mower only uses the cabling to find its way around, but external interference with the cable can stop the mower from working until fixed.

The advantage of no cabling is the external disruption to function cannot happen if there isn’t a cable to cut through.  The disadvantage is that these machines are defined by and guided by connection from satellite signals, and should there be disruption to those signals by shadowing, be that from buildings or tree canopies, they cannot pick up the signals.  Just as importantly, these machines need to have a good mobile phone signal to affect their installation.

The advantage therefore of a machine that is capable of both functions is that installation style can be appropriate to garden style and a combination of styles may be required.

Other new introductions are the capability of “edge-cut”, where, as the mower changes direction, the edge is also cut by another cutter.  The programming on some is now capable to mow systematically, in stripes, just as if you were using a regular walk-behind mower, even including patterns such as a checkerboard and some can even finish with a diamond pattern.

This type of mower is more of a maintenance tool, keeping your lawns at a constant height.

We have decided to favour their range of autonomous, boundary cable-free only machines.  They can offer a few different features to the Husqvarna range; the biggest benefit is that their range extends into a larger area by the inclusion of models suitable for 7500m2 and 10000m2.
